Verified facts

Like-for-like volumes fell 7.2%. A positive 5.9% price-and-mix contribution partly offset that decline, leaving like-for-like revenue down 1.3%. Changes to the network explain the remaining difference from total revenue.

Performance varied across the business. Toolstation UK increased total revenue by 3.7%, while Merchanting declined 2.6% and Toolstation Benelux fell 3.8%.

Apolifina analysis

For shareholders, a modest sales decline can conceal a larger reduction in activity when prices and product mix move the other way. Watch whether cost control protects cash generation as well as earnings. These company figures are not a direct measure of the whole UK construction market.

Risk notice: The update is not a full set of quarterly profit accounts. Trading conditions may change. Investments can fall in value; this is general reporting, not a personal recommendation.
